How to use google voice in the classroom and allow students to use it for learning.

OK staff here's another short video on using Google Voice search. Obviously when you sign-in you're gonna see this Classlink page come up. In order to use Google Voice you would have to use a Google search. So you have to open up an existing tab just to see its features. This is something you can have the students use if you would like. It's optional. So in order to enable Google Voice is that you see this little microphone on the right? You would click on it. And then it says "OK Google" to start a voice search. Search without lifting a finger. When you "OK Google," Chrome will search for what you say next. And you're going to go ahead and enable "OK Google." And click on the microphone again. Process listening for OK let's see if it works. We'll do a math problem. "OK Google." Now it says google.com wants to use your microphone and you allow it. What is nine times nine? The answer is eighty one. OK so the voice is obviously a female voice. It says eighty one which is perfect for me. "OK Google," What is the square root of one hundred and forty one? Square root one hundred and forty one is approximatly 11.874. OK. "OK Google," what is nine divided by eighty one? The answer is approximately 0.111. So as you can see division problem was said backwards. You would have to say eighty one divided by nine, so we'll try that again. "OK Google," what is eighty one divided by nine? The answer is nine. And there you have it. "OK Google," what is nine plus one hundred and twenty. The answer is one hundred twenty nine. So there's a math lesson. Let's try a history lesson. "OK Google," how did World War II start? According to primary homework help, World War II in Europe began on the 3rd of September 1939 when the Prime Minister of Britain, Neville Chamberlain, declared war on Germany. So it read you the first sentence in the how did World War II start definition. You can see a picture of a soldier there. That takes care of a history lesson. Let's try science. Science question. OK let's see. "OK Google," define scientific method. Scientific method: a method of procedure that has characterized natural science since the 17th century, consisting in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses. OK so there's when it comes to defining, Google Voice is really good. Let's try one on a cell. Let's see, on a plant cell. "OK Google," what does a plant cell look like? There you go. Pictures of a plant cell. The same thing works for art or music if you want to look at something. Let's see. What's a famous kids song? Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. "OK Google," play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star So obviously it gives you the video. You just have to click on it yourself. It won't, that's the only thing about Google Voice, it will not play the videos for you. You would have to click on there. But obviously every time I say the word "OK" and then "Google," it automatically activates the microphone, and it tells me to speak into it without me having to touch anything on the chromebook. Only thing I touch is when I start typing things up here. Let's see. "OK Google," show me a list of kid's books. Books frequently mentioned on the web include Where the Wild Things Are, The Very Hungry Catepillar, Green Eggs and Ham, and others. A Wrinkle in Time Charlotte's Web, and several others.
