Principal's Message
Welcome back to school! I am honored to continue serving as the principal of Yamato Colony Elementary School. We at Yamato Colony are committed to building a strong partnership with our parents. As partners, we can foster a healthy and positive relationship as well as provide a rigorous curriculum that prepares our students to become critical thinkers, to possess strong communication skills, to become innovative, and collaboratively work with diverse students.
Yamato Colony offers numerous opportunities for parents to become active members of their child’s education. Being part of the Yamato community is truly a privilege where students, parents and school staff care for each other and strive to create positive relationships that support the academic and social growth of our students. We encourage you to partake in school committees, events, and programs.
As a result of the partnership, our students continue to demonstrate academic growth. Preliminary state assessment results for the 2019 CAASPP show that Yamato Colony students in grades 3rd-5th made great improvements on the test. The CAASPP assessments was administered in ELA/Reading and Math to all 3rd through 5th graders only. A significant number and percentage of students in grades 3rd-5th met or exceeded grade level standards. We are proud of the students for their academic achievement and thankful to our teachers for their dedication and hardwork in ensuring that students are academically prepared for the next grade level.
Building our school culture for success includes modernization projects. First and foremost, 4 classrooms received new carpet installation, a new layer of asphalt was added to the all 3 sections of the playground, classroom doors were painted, outside lighting was replaced with new LED. Lastly, additional trees were planted throughout the school.
